Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar put Los Cabos on the global nightlife map when he opened Cabo Wabo Cantina in 1990. The club kicked off a serious party atmosphere in Cabo San Lucas, with equally social locations like El Squid Roe. But there’s so much more to this area’s nightlife scene than endless tequila shots and margaritas by the yard.

It’s no surprise that just about every high-end hotel here has a lounge worth seeking out. One sophisticated newcomer is La Biblioteca de Tequila, from celebrity chef Richard Sandoval. It’s known for a dazzling selection of artisanal tequilas.

For a casual night out, a number of bars line the beach: Tabasco, Mango’s, and Sand Bar are a few names to know. Zippers, set near a legendary surf break by the same name, is another beachfront standby. And if you’re in the mood for cervezas, don’t miss Baja Brewing Company, which has three locations in the area and is leading the artisanal craft beer charge.
