Eqyptian Theatre

2712 Hollywood Blvd. ,
Los Angeles,
United States,

Four 20-foot-tall columns, Sphinx heads, and hieroglyphics stand at the main entrance of the landmark Hollywood movie theater where Sid Grauman staged the first Hollywood premiere, Robin Hood, in 1922. After decades of disrepair followed by the American Cinematheque's nearly $15 million renovation in 1998, the red carpet returned and movies flicker in the 650-seat house or the 83-seat Steven Spielberg theaters. This historic cinema now hosts film revivals, independent pieces, premieres, and documentaries, such as the exclusive Forever Hollywood, which is frequently shown in tandem with a theater tour.
