Big Blue Bus

223 Broadway,
Santa Monica,
United States,

Headquartered in downtown Santa Monica, this bus service provides transportation to more than 1,150 stops, including Venice Beach, the Santa Monica Pier, Third Street Promenade, and LAX. First launched in 1928 as Santa Monica Municipal Bus Lines, the company was more commonly known as the Blue Bus because of the vehicles’ signature color (the name officially changed in 1999). Today, the eco-friendly company has a fleet of approximately 210 buses, almost half of which rely on liquefied natural gas, which burns cleaner than diesel. The service includes 14 regular bus routes, along with two commuter lines and three rapid lines.
