First founded in 1995 as a catering company, Joan’s on Third is now one of the most popular eateries in Mid-City West. Part café and part gourmet market, Joan’s welcomes visitors with two cow statues beside a row of always-bustling sidewalk tables. Inside, white walls and large windows serve as the backdrop for displays of artisan cheeses, mustards, olive oils, and exotic spices. The dine-in selection includes seasonal New American dishes, such as fresh salads, homemade soups, and sandwiches. Three glass counters also showcase flower-topped cupcakes and cookies stacked in old-fashioned glass jars.
