Grand Central Market

317 S. Broadway
Los Angeles, CA, 90013, United States
TEL: (213) 624-2378

On the ground floor of the Homer Laughlin Building at South Broadway, the Grand Central Market's 38 global merchants purvey various international wares, such as tamarind candy, mole, and turquoise jewelry. Opened in 1917, this is the city's largest and oldest open-air market, and it continues to attract travelers and residents of nearby upscale Bunker Hill to its sawdust floors and labyrinth of booths (most vendors are cash-only). Shop for bargains, and then enjoy a casual lunch in the Market Court or create a unique meal with food from different vendors, such as Sarita's Salvadoran pupusas (thick tortillas with such fillings as cheese, beans, and meat) and an aguas fresca drink from La Adelita.
