Hot Bread Kitchen
New York, NY, 10029, United States
Located in East Harlem, Hot Bread Kitchen is a nonprofit organization that teaches low-income women how to launch and run a food business. In order to raise money, the group sells multiethnic breads made with mostly local and organic ingredients. Breads range from traditional European-style, such as baguettes and multigrain loaves, to regional specialties like organic lavash (a crisp Armenian cracker) and hand-pressed corn tortillas made with blue, yellow, and white corn that’s ground in-house. Hot Bread Kitchen products can be found at more than 30 local restaurants, gourmet shops, and markets, including the popular Union Square Market.
Insider Tip:
The company also has a stall at Fort Greene Park’s Saturday market, so you can buy a loaf and stay for a picnic on one of the open lawns.
