All of the permanent collections at galleries and museums are free in London, which is a great starting point for fulfilling your cultural fix. Pair that with top-tier theater, incredible walking tours, and bustling city markets, and you certainly won’t be bored.
As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, it’s no surprise that the list of things to do in London is an extensive mix of old and new. Many of London’s most historic spots are concentrated in the city’s center. In the course of an afternoon, visitors can wander and catch the changing of the guard outside Buckingham Palace, soak in the energy of Trafalgar Square, and see government in action at the Houses of Parliament.
But for something a little newer, check out the South Bank Centre, a complex of artistic venues, from theaters and galleries to performance venues and eateries, on the South Bank of the River Thames. The surrounding neighborhoods are well worth exploration, too.
