One of the first contemporary galleries founded in London’s East End arts district, the Showroom has been nurturing young artists as well as hosting innovative workshops since 1989. The nonprofit gallery specifically aids artists hoping to create their first public show, and has succeeded in jumpstarting the careers of such renowned artists as Eva Rothschild, Simon Starling, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Jim Lambie. In 2009, the Showroom relocated to a two-story yellow building on Penfold Street with a light and airy interior in which visitors can view the gallery’s four annual shows and attend dynamic events.
