Rex Whistler Restaurant

Millbank
Tate Britain
London, England, SW1P 4RG, United Kingdom
TEL: 44-20-7887-8825

Housed inside the Tate Britain, the Rex Whistler Restaurant is named after the artist who painted the dining room’s 1927 mural, entitled The Expedition in Pursuit of Rare Meats. Covering all four walls, the mural is the focus of the space, which is otherwise simply decorated with white columns and tablecloths. Open for lunch, brunch, and afternoon tea, the restaurant serves seasonal British cuisine such as pork belly and fillet with caramelized red cabbage, followed by a local cheese plate with homemade chutney and walnut bread. The award-winning wine list provides 50 pages of pairing options.

Insider Tip:

The afternoon tea portions are unusually small, so consider ordering an extra side dish or two.
