London, England, E15 1BN, United Kingdom
TEL: 44-79-7291-8050
Situated in the Stratford neighborhood, this restored Victorian theater produces an average of seven shows each year, as well as a pantomime and one-time events. Originally built in 1884, the theater features a large chandelier, six private boxes, and bright red seating on three levels, all of which offer excellent views of the gold proscenium arch stage. The venue showcases work by up-and-coming, culturally diverse playwrights, with an emphasis on musicals and interpretations of classic literature. Additionally, the on-site bar serves Caribbean-influenced cuisine and hosts free Monday night comedy shows, Sunday night poetry readings, and live music almost every night.
Insider Tip:
The Theatre Royal is just down the street from the Stratford Picture House, so you can easily catch an independent film before heading to the theater.
