Sporeboys

Broadway Market
London, England, E8 4PH, United Kingdom

Situated at the northern end of Hackney’s Broadway Market, Sporeboys sells a wide variety of fresh, hard-to-find mushrooms. Established in 2005 by fungi enthusiasts David Robinson and Andrew Gellatly, this stall is now part of an ever-growing chain of marketplace locations across the city. In addition to locally sourced mushrooms ranging from chanterelles and portabellas to eryngii and golden enoki, the shop also sells mushroom risotto and—the most famous menu item—a made-to-order mushroom sandwich. The freshest daily picks are sautéed in garlic and butter and then served on sourdough bread with pecorino cheese, parsley, and olive oil.

Insider Tip:

If you happen to see a batch of organic Japanese mushrooms from Kent, make sure to pick some up; co-owner David claims them as his personal favorite.
