Established in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall fulfilled Prince Albert’s vision for a central hall to promote the arts and sciences. Located in South Kensington facing Hyde Park, the multipurpose venue hosts more than 350 events each year, including concerts, exhibitions, and scientific discussions. Inspired by northern Italian architecture, the hall has a red-brick and terracotta exterior with a wrought-iron dome and, inside, a vast red and gold auditorium. In addition to nearly every major classical artist and orchestra, past performers include Frank Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, Jay Z, and Elton John; past speakers include Sir Winston Churchill and Nelson Mandela.

Insider Tip:

The auditorium seating is steeply angled, so if you have problems with vertigo, avoid sitting at the back.
