While living in this historic house, Dickens wrote Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby, his sister-in-law Mary died at 17, and he welcomed two daughters into his family. The Bloomsbury area residence now contains a collection of more than 100,000 pieces of memorabilia related to the author of Great Expectations and A Christmas Carol. Paintings, manuscripts, rare editions, and personal items fill the only remaining Dickens home in London. Private tours of the home are available.
