Latin hipsters with deep pockets make their way to this Little Havana dance club that offers live music and salsa dancing at South Beach prices. Popular with old-school Cubans when it was Cafe Nostalgia, the club now attracts a younger, trendier crowd, especially on Thursday nights. Called fuacata (slang for pow), Hoy Como Ayer's Thursday parties feature classic Cuban music mixed with modern DJ-spun sound effects. Consistent with its Calle Ocho address, the club's straight-out-of-Havana désign favors low lights, wooden decor, and black-and-white photos of the old country.
Insider Tip:
Keep an eye out for surprise musical performances. Mick Jagger and Bono, among others, have played here on occasion.
