Taberna da Rua das Flores
Hurry up and wait at this intimate bohemian tavern in Chiado—its no-reservations culture is no deterrent to determined diners, who flock here for the daily-changing chalkboard of seasonal petiscos (small plates), presented by friendly millennials well-versed in evocative descriptions. Lisbon-area wines; creative cocktails with lesser-known Portuguese firewaters; and a long, unusual list of locally sourced dishes are worth the wait. Many of the dishes have Asian accents: the house-specialty mackerel tartare sits on a bed of seaweed salad, for example. Doors open at 6 p.m. and you'll need to be there then to secure a spot on the list.
