In 1992, "bad-girl designer" Fatima Lopes opened her self-named shop and started her own brand of clothing in Bairro Alto. Lopes drew the fashion world's attention by strutting down the catwalk in the world's most expensive bikini made of diamonds and gold. Her collections now include his and hers fashion, crystal and cutlery, eyewear, and bold geometric tapestries for the home. Critcis often label Lopes's cuts as sexy and revealing, as they often incorporate tight-fitting leather, high and low slits, and sheer fabrics. Her most recent collection includes a knee-length hot pink dress with a ruffled collar that drops to the bellybutton.
Try Lopes's restaurant, Faces in Chiado, which features the Portuguese cuisine of chef John Slater.
