Kitsilano/South Granville
Go Fish, Vancouver
False Creek Fisherman’s Wharf
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
This unassuming seafood joint on False Creek Fisherman’s Wharf (just a short walk from the Granville Island market) doesn’t look like much from the outside—which is just fine for locals, who’d rather keep it for themselves. Go Fish may be the only corrugated metal shack you’ll ever eat at where the menu lists an executive chef—but after trying Gord Martin’s super-fresh fish-and-chips or one of his grilled Qualicum Beach scallop sandwiches, you’ll understand what the fuss is all about—and want to keep this place a secret too. The dining area consists of just a few plastic chairs beneath an outdoor awning—which tend to be filled even when it rains.
Insider Tip:
Surprisingly for a take-out spot, Go Fish is open (except for Mondays) year-round from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
