Studios of Key West

Off the beaten path in an old Armory building, this nonprofit creative arts community center serves as an artist residency to more than 40 different artists each year. Mediums include writing, hair and headdress designing, dancing, painting, sculpting, and music. There are also concerts, art classes, galleries, and working artists viewings, along with workshops and free lectures. As part of the experience, artists must provide a class, workshop, reading, performance or special project during their one month stay, plus participate in the monthly “On the Deck” open meeting for the community. Past events have included classical concerts and a burlesque show.
