Things to do in Key Largo

From beaches, aquariums, sports and even museums, there are many things to do in Key Largo. Get underwater to make the most of your scuba-diving skills, or to try it for the first time. A popular site to dive is Benwood Wreck, where you can explore the Norwegian ship that sank in 1942. What to do in Key Largo if you're not into diving? Snorkeling has a shorter learning curve and offers plenty of rewards, especially at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first underwater park in the USA—you can see parrot fish, cocoa damselfish and even a statue of Jesus. Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary is another good option, encompassing 190 square miles of coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangrove estuaries.

When you are ready to come up for air, check out The Diving Museum, where can see how diving has evolved over the centuries. For wildlife above the surface, check out The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center, home to preys, hawks, herons and more. Angling is one of the top things to in Key Largo, and if you’re a novice, charters can take you out and give you tips. The big prize around here is the bonefish, a.k.a. the ghost fish. Harry Harris Park is known for being good family beach, while the Dolphin Research Center is a nonprofit facility where you can learn about, and even interact with, the friendly animals.
