Kokee State Park
Waimea, HI, 96796, United States
Visitors get to know the Garden Island through the trails of Koke’e State Park in Waimea. With the Koke’e Museum as a starting point, trails take hikers to the scenic Waimea Canyon rim and Waipo’o Falls. Other trails go through forests to a waiwi (strawberry guava) grove and along the edge of the Kalalau Valley rainforest, then on to Wainika Valley rim overlooking the north shore. A long, challenging trail called the Awa‘awapuhi - Nu‘alolo Loop gives hikers a view of the fortress-like green cliffs of the Na Pali coast. Cabins can be rented for overnight visits.
