This outfit, founded by two long-term American expats, takes you off Istanbul's beaten track while keeping you extremely well-fed. Culinary Backstreets' small-group tours (maximum of seven people) explore the edible gems of the Grand Bazaar and nearby markets, Istanbul's Old City, modern Beyoglu, and other areas. Expect to wear your feet out while enjoying genuine interactions with locals and to end the tour with a belly full to bursting. If you’re interested in learning some of the regional recipes, book the cooking class, which begins with a tour of the little-visited neighborhood of Kurtulus and ends with instruction in a local home followed by dinner accompanied by wine.
