A monument to the endearingly loopy vision of pastis magnate Paul Ricard (who built it in 1962), the 19-room Le Delos was recently reimagined by British designer Carolyn Quartermaine, who brought cohesion to the eccentric mix. Thronelike armchairs are re-covered in vintage bedsheets dyed pink; linens are printed with fragments of 17th-century calligraphy; artist Didier Mahieu’s drawings are sketched directly on bedroom walls. Happily, the best of Ricard’s beloved frippery (vivaciously colored tiles, allegorical mosaics, wrought-iron schooner chandeliers) still remains.
