Hvar Town
Hotel Palace
The oldest hotel on the island of Hvar, the Palace dates back to 1898 and incorporates a 16th-century Venetian loggia. The property’s main draw is its prime location: bordered by the harbor on one side and the town’s main square on the other, the hotel has exceptional views of the water, the Paklinski Islands, and several historic structures, including St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the 17th-century Hvar Theatre. The 73 guest rooms are designed in a minimalist style, and some include private terraces. Named after the famous Venetian piazza, the San Marco restaurant serves regional fare on an open-air terrace overlooking the harbor.
Room to Book:
The rooms do not have air conditioning, so avoid facing the noisy main square in case you want to open your windows.
Insider Tip:
One evening during your stay, climb to the top of the nearby Hvar Fortress to watch the sun set over the water.
