This Indian bistro in Chelsea has won chef Yogesh Datta acclaim for the past decade. It re-opened in 2010 after a top-to-bottom renovation and has a frequently changing menu of classical Indian cuisine with European touches and in-season, local ingredients. Appetizer platters designed for sharing come in meat, seafood, or vegetarian iterations, offering tidbits like monkfish in tandoori spices, duck tikka, or paneer tikka with baby aubergine. Mains cover the pleasantly expected—curried black tiger prawns—and pleasantly unexpected like bhuna-spice-roasted venison. The wine list is compact yet covers Old and New World alike.
Insider Tip:
A smoker-friendly courtyard prevents having to stand out on the street during nicotine breaks.
