Helsinki
Hietaniemi Cemetery
Gravestones dot parks all over the city, and Finns find nothing morbid about strolling through its cemeteries, most of which were designed to double as picturesque spots for afternoon walks. In tree-lined Hietaniemi, soldiers, six Finnish presidents, and Carl Ludvig Engel, the German architect who designed Helsinki's Senate Square, were all laid to rest.
