Gujarat + Western India Travel Guide

Animal lovers wondering what to do in Gujarat will want to be sure to take a safari through Gir National Park. You may see wild animals such as antelope, hyenas, reptiles, even lions and leopards! There are also many species of birds to observe in the Gir National Park. It is recommended to go on four safaris for the best chance of seeing the large exotic cats.

The Sasan-Gir Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the essential things to do in Gujarat. This park is best explored from a Jeep. You’ll see lions, livestock and a variety of other wildlife. Keep an eye out for crocodiles as well. There is a crocodile-breeding center located just next door.

For a royal VIP experience, be sure to visit Bhavnagar-Palitana and hire porters to carry you in a carriage to the Jain temples. It’s one of the most fun things to do in Gujarat. From the carriage, you will be able to see bazaars, silversmith shops, a seaside palace called Nilambagh, and beautiful temples. There is also a shipwreck shop called Alang that is always interesting to browse because it offers a variety of fun trinkets and antiques. The Alang has often been compared to a flea market.
