Bargain-hunters, outdoorsy types, and persnickety hotel-goers all like this comfortable inn within short walking distance of bustling Freeport, a.k.a. outlet central (170+ shops) and home to L. L. Bean, which has been outfitting fly-fisherman, campers, and preppies since 1912. Like the town itself, the inn is a mix of old and new; the main reception area and dining room are in a 19th-century house, while modern wings house the inn’s 84 guest rooms. Each room is smartly appointed in tartans with canopy beds and has plenty of extra room for shopping bags. No fewer than 23 fireplaces are scattered throughout the property, including the homey Broad Arrow Tavern and Maine Dining Room restaurant. The Harraseeket is also an active partner in the Green Hotel Association.
