Great Missenden

Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre

81-83 High St.
Great Missenden, England, HP16 0AL , United Kingdom
TEL: 44-1494-892-192

Catering to children ages 12 and under, this small museum is located in the town of Great Missenden, where author Roald Dahl lived for 36 years. Decorated with murals by Quentin Blake (who illustrated Dahl’s books), the museum contains interactive exhibits commemorating the author and his well-loved stories. Doors that look and smell like chocolate bars open onto a character dress-up area, a replica of Dahl’s “writing hut,” and a Gladiator cockpit like the one Dahl flew during World War II. The museum also has daily storytelling events and a café serving Dahl-inspired dishes, such as “sandwitches” and “snozzberry yogurt.”

Insider Tip:

After exploring the museum, walk to the nearby churchyard to visit Dahl’s grave, which overlooks the town below.
