Pemaquid Fishermen's Co-Op
Pemaquid Harbor, ME, United States
Live and cooked lobsters are the draw at this low-key waterfront seafood shack, operated by the nation's oldest fishermen's cooperative. Everything served is freshly caught; the co-op's several dozen lobstermen unload the day's catch mere feet from the restaurant's outdoor picnic tables--just as they have done since 1947. The menu is standard New England fare: boiled lobsters, stews and chowders, peekytoe crabmeat rolls, shrimp and steamers. For those unable to make the trip to Maine, live lobsters can be purchased online for next-day delivery through the co-op's website.
Insider Tip:
Care for a cocktail with that lobster roll? The restaurant is BYO booze.
