Piazza Santa Maria Novella 1, Florence, 50123, Italy

features

Great value

Its swirling, green-and-white-marble facade is probably the most beautiful in Florence, and it houses some of the most important frescoes in the city, and yet the Dominican church of Santa Maria Novella is often bypassed by visitors in favor of its more famous counterparts. The striking interior, with its double rank of zebra-striped columns, houses masterpieces such as Masaccio's seminal 1427 Trinità fresco, Giotto's 1290 Crucifix, and a superb fresco cycle behind the high altar by Domenico Ghirlandaio.
