Benozzo Gozzoli's representation of the Journey of the Magi was painted from 1459-1461 and is one of the most glorious frescoes in Florence. Almost entirely covering the four walls of the tiny chapel in Palazzo Medici-Riccardi, the vivid scenes are painted in bright jewel tones and are full of delightful detail, showing a cast of characters led by Caspar, the youngest of the three kings, on a handsome white horse that is believed to be a portrait of Lorenzo Il Magnifico.
