Great cocktails, Great design
website

With its prime location amid the designer stores of elegant Via Tornabuoni, Giacosa was once one of Florence's most elegant cafes. The Negroni cocktail (equal parts gin, Campari, and Martini rosso) was invented here in the 1920s. It is now the property of Florentine designer Roberto Cavalli, who restored the place in typically lavish style, peppering the interior with his trademark animal prints. Today it is popular with elegant Florentines who pop in for coffee between shops, a quick plate of pasta or salad at lunchtime, or an evening aperitivo (negroni, of course). The pavement terrace is a pleasant spot in warmer weather now that the area is virtually traffic-free.
