20 North Brg., Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 1TR, United Kingdom

Rising dramatically over North Bridge, the turreted sandstone façade of the Scotsman Hotel was originally built in 1905 to house the baronial offices of the Scotsman newspaper. The meticulously restored interior still contains original Victorian elements, from the lobby’s oak paneling to the Italian marble staircase, stained-glass windows, and former newspaper reception room, which now houses the North Bridge Brasserie. The 69 guest rooms are individually designed, but most include expansive views of the city from Princes Street to the Firth of Forth, as well as an Edinburgh Monopoly board game and a free daily copy of the Scotsman.
