One of the few spots for authentic Korean cuisine in downtown DC, Mandu serves the home-recipe specialties of Seoul-born chef, Yesoon Lee. Opened in Dupont Circle in 2006, the restaurant specializes in the bibimbap, bulgogi, and mandu (Korean dumplings) once only available in the Virginia and Maryland suburbs. (Devotees of Korean cooking should note that Mandu's take on Korean dishes is less virulently spicy than they may be used to.) The main floor features a large bar, while the second-story dining space favors dressed-up Korean décor featuring elegant flourishes—wine glasses on each table, for example.
