Dublin 4 + Ranelagh
The Dylan, Dublin
Epitomizing the “new Dublin chic,” this stylish, designy boutique property is a favorite among the city’s fashionistas. Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac in the swanky D4 area, the hotel enjoys a peaceful location—although just a 10-minute drive from the center of town. And the interiors here are anything but quiet. Ornate details like flocked wallpaper, elaborate gilt mirrors, oversize velvet armchairs, and striped silk drapes can be found in both the common areas and the 44 guest rooms (the latter also feature high-tech extras like heated marble bathroom floors and iPods loaded with walking tours of the city). The sceney first-floor bar is the place to be after dark, especially in summer, when the party spills out onto a spacious terrace.
Room to Book: The red leather bed in Room 101 is the ultimate expression of the Dylan’s “more is more” aesthetic.
Insider Tip:
For real decadence, order one of the bar’s signature Truffle Martinis, made with real black truffle shavings. If the booze doesn’t make you dizzy, the price (about $89 a pop) might.
