Dubai International Airport, Terminal 1, center of concourse, Dubai, , United Arab Emirates

As in the various gold souks in the Middle East, gold is sold by the gram in the Dubai Airport, at constantly fluctuating prices. You can also buy gold chains by the meter—the most popular here are the heavy yellow-gold variety. You won’t get any special deals (if you’re truly in the market for jewelry, and you have the time, look for better deals in the famous gold souk in Deira, Dubai’s commercial district). Still, the selection of necklaces, earrings, and bangles is dazzling. Look for the large circular island with a “gold” palm tree in the center of the terminal.
