Alexis Hotel
Seattle, WA, 98104, United States

Seattle’s first self-proclaimed “art hotel” fills its 121 rooms with works selected by a Seattle Art Museum curator; themed suites are dedicated to local artists and arts institutions (the J. P. Canlis suite, for example, has photos of the glass artist at work in his studio and shadow boxes containing the tools that helped create his masterpieces). The décor, which was completely refurbished in 2007, is a tasteful mix of classic and new—your room may have a wood-burning fireplace and a giant flat-screen TV, or modern geometric prints alongside burnished leather wing chairs.
Room to Book:
The one-bedroom, two-bathroom Alexis Suite, with its four-poster bed, skylights, exposed brick walls, and enormous jetted tub, might tempt you to move in for a few weeks.
Insider Tip:
The lobby is very small and doesn’t invite lingering, but don’t miss taking the “art walk” to the right of the main elevator bank; the hallway connecting the hotel’s two towers has wonderful exhibits from local painters and photographers.
