Pike Place Market

1501 Pike Pl.
Seattle, WA, 98101, United States
TEL: (206) 682-7453

A must-see for every first-time Seattle visitor, this indoor farmers’ market of more than 200 stalls is also a crucial hub for most of the city’s restaurateurs and foodies. Despite the unfortunate clusters of junk shops, most of the market’s booths are occupied by serious growers, food merchants, and craftspeople, hawking fresh herbs, pots of cloudy artisanal honeys, whole fish and crabs on heaps of chipped ice, and pyramids of apples bearing “Avalanche Warning” signs. Most tourists make a beeline for the sassy fish throwers of Pike Place Fish Market or the original Starbucks, but the true don’t-miss are the flower stalls in the main arcade.

Tip: The Alibi Room (85 Pike Street, #410; 206-623-3180; www.seattlealibi.com), a chic little restaurant/bar in the market’s lower level, is another local favorite. You’ll find the entrance at the south end of the market, along Post Alley, across from the Market Theatre.
