Dominion Square Tavern
Montreal, Quebec, H3B 2V5, Canada
From the same owners as Whiskey Café, Dominion Square Tavern serves a French-Canadian menu and house-made items by chef Érik Dupuis. The original chandelier and terrazzo floors have seen the space used as everything from a 1927 hotel restaurant to one of the city’s first gay bars. The uncommon menu spans Scotch eggs, salmon gravlax, and corn fritters with homemade ketchup. A weekday happy hour serves microbrewed beers and traditional cocktails at the downtown bar. Dominion's Canuck blends rye, maple syrup, lemon juice, and bitters, while others use homemade tonic water and fresh lemonade.
Insider Tip:
Since the tavern is not far from Centre Bell, it's a popular pre-hockey game establishment.
