Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway
Completed in October of 2008, the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway occupies space that was vacated when the elevated Central Artery roadways were moved underground. Making its way through several key neighborhoods like the North End and Wharf District, the Greenway is comprised of five sections, each with its own unique vibe. The North End has plenty of lawn space for enjoying the sun, and kids love the shallow canal with its vertical water jets. Even more jets (64 to be exact) can be found at the Rings Fountain at Milk Street inside Wharf District Park, which is also home to the Greenway carousel. Main entrances are located at both the North End and Chinatown.
Having a picnic in the park is easy with all the food vendors around. You'll find everything from BBQ to vegetarian food to hot dogs—and even cupcakes.
