Hotels in Denver

Denver hotels, especially those downtown, cater largely to business travelers. That means you can often score good deals if you are traveling when they are not, and the nightlife of LoDo is not far. The Brown Palace is on most lists of the best hotels in Denver. It's definitely the oldest, having opened in 1892 and operated continuously since then. Every president since Teddy Roosevelt, with the sole exception of Calvin Coolidge, has stayed here.

The spas at some Denver hotels, including the Four Seasons and the Hotel Monaco, offer oxygen treatments to help guests adjust to the city's altitude. We can't promise they'll work, but they (probably) can't hurt. A number of other hotels in Denver, including the JW Marriott and Loews Denver can be found in Cherry Creek, about 15 minutes by car from downtown. You'll be closer to more upscale shopping and dining options than if you choose a base downtown.

Downtown landmark known for hosting American presidents; the property’s 1,320-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center and upper floors were rennovated in 2010.

In the Central Business District, the Hyatt Regency rises high in the downtown skyline with notable features like the glass-enclosed lobby, lounge, bar and restaurant, which mirrors the style of the adjacent Colorado Convention Center.

Bold faces have been jockeying for rooms at the $75 million property, which upped Denver's glamour quotient when it opened in 2008.

Most business-oriented hotels are cookie-cutter bland.

Renaissance Revival building filled with theater memorabilia, including a costume worn by Annette Bening in a Denver Center Theatre Company production.

Located just south of Cherry Creek, Loews Denver Hotel is only a 15-minute drive from downtown. Inside the glass-and-steel building, the lobby is designed to resemble an Italian villa, with large marble columns, Renaissance-style paintings, and vintage furniture set beside a fireplace.

Although the JW Marriott is located three miles outside of downtown, the hotel is still convenient to several attractions, including the upscale Cherry Creek Shopping Center.
