While many people looking for things to do in Dallas spend their time dining on Tex Mex and catching a Cowboys game, there is also a vibrant art scene that could take days to fully explore. In fact, the Dallas Arts District is the largest contiguous urban arts district in the nation. It spans 68 acres and 19 contiguous blocks, and houses local gems like the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, the Crow Collection of Asian Art, and more.

If you’re visiting in late September or October, the Texas state fair is, of course one of the country's largest. Explore the exhibitions of art and produce, and then eat funnel cakes and other foods you may regret. Stop by the Sixth Floor Museum, which covers the life and times of JFK.
