Culver City

Museum of Jurassic Technology

9341 Venice Blvd.
Culver City, CA, 90034, United States
TEL: (310) 836-6131

Modeled after the 18th-century cabinet of curiosities, this unique museum is housed in an unassuming two-story building on Venice Boulevard. The dark, labyrinthine interior contains more than 30 permanent exhibits covering a wide range of themes, from the history of string games to the dogs of the Soviet space program. Among the more unusual artifacts are antique magician’s dice; a test tube filled with duck’s breath (once thought to cure thrush); and microscopic collages made from the scales of butterfly wings. The museum also has a tea room serving complimentary tea and cookies, and a rooftop garden with vintage birdcages.

Insider Tip:

Although the tea and cookies are free, make sure to bring some cash for a tip.
