Copenhagen’s answer to Manhattan’s posh Nobu, Umami is a French and Japanese fusion restaurant and sushi bar that has become a magnet for the celebrities and the city’s elite. Entrée selections include the duck breast with kimchi orange sauce and the veal tenderloin with wasabi truffle sauce. Sashimi and tempura selections are available, and the bar serves a selection of inventive cocktails, including hallucinogenic martinis. The restaurant is housed inside a 19th-century bank building, and its interior, created by Orbit Design, is eye-catching with its color-changing acrylic curtain, sleek wood floors, and white walls.
The men’s and women’s restrooms, located where the bank vault once stood, are one of the restaurant’s most interesting spots and warrant a visit.
