Bang & Jansen
Housed in an old pharmacy, Bang and Jensen in trendy Vesterbro has a lived-in feel with mismatched, second-hand mid-century modern furniture, vintage patterned wallpaper, and an assortment of flea-market-find pantings on the wall, in addition to vintage pinball machines and game tables. In 1996, the pub/cafe was the first to open in what was then a seedy neighborhood. Now, it's a beloved local hangout, serving coffee, specialty cocktails, beer on tap, and breakfast all day, as well as eclectic fare, including chorizo or Serrano ham sandwiches and eggs any style during brunch.
Insider Tip:
Istedgade is still quite a mixed bag with some unsavory activity still taking place: avoid the Central Station where most of the sketchy types tend to cluster.
