Copenhagen
Palace Hotel
Copenhagen, 1550, Denmark
The Art Nouveau-style Palace Tower dates back to 1910, but even after its fifth renovation in 2008, there’s still a majestic old-world sensibility to the 162-room property in the heart of Copenhagen’s Town Hall Square and less than five minutes walking distance from Tivoli Gardens. The brick hotel features multiple towers and four inner wings, all with different aesthetics. For example, the Evening Wing is decked in regal reds in honor of the many royal guests the hotel has entertained, like Danish Queen Margrethe II, while the Day Wing’s dramatic purple tones are a nod to Hollywood elite who frequented the establishment in the 50‘s and 60‘s, Audrey Hepburn and Errol Flynn among them.
Room to Book:
For the best views of Copenhagen’s historic Town Hall Square, ask for room 301.
Insider Tip:
The Palace Bar, with its blue damask seating and dark wood bar, is the perfect stop smoked pepper mackerel accompanied by a Copenhagen, a gin-based cocktail made with Bols Genever, Cherry Heering, and Angostura Bitters.
