Centrally located in Vestrbro near Tivoli Gardens, the 129-room Axel Hotel Guldsmeden is housed in a traditional five-story building with an all-white facade designed by Marc Weinert. The lobby's contemporary wooden and ulpholstered furnture and light fixtures are complemented by colorful Persian rugs. Guest rooms, many of which have small balconies, have been furnished with Balinese four-poster beds with curtains, grasscloth-accented furntiure, and flat-screen televisions, and some rooms even feature loft beds. Bathrooms have modern stone bowl sinks, and the complimentary organic bath products are exclusive to Guldsmeden hotels. The hotel's full-service spa offers relaxation treatments as well as a sauna and steam bath, and the courtyard bar, furnished with cushy chairs and sofas, opens each afternoon at 4 p.m. (complimentaru fleece blankets provided).
