Although its name and appearance call to mind the standard Chinese takeout joint in Anytown, USA, Chinatown Express, located on the same block as the Verizon Center, is anything but. The joint is especially popular among locals for its homemade dumplings and noodles, which are hand-spun within view of the dining area. The menu, which does include standard fare such as General Tso's chicken and fried rice, also includes healthier options served family style, such as stir-fried yu choy.

For a healthier option, the soups with homemade noodles are prepared with much less salt than most other Chinese restaurants.
