The Blackstone, Chicago
Chicago, IL, 60605, United States
TEL: (800) 468-3571
Situated on the Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago, this Neoclassical Beaux-Arts building houses 332 old-meets-new rooms dotted with works by local artists. The Blackstone has earned a rarefied place in American politics: it's dubbed the "Hotel of Presidents"—everyone from Teddy Roosevelt to JFK has slept here—and a hotel meeting room was once a Prohibition-era barbershop where Al Capone stashed his alcohol (he came in for weekly haircuts). It even houses the original Smoke-Filled Room, a luxe three-room suite where Warren G. Harding was nominated for president in 1920.
Room to Book:
The contemporary-style Heaven Suite—with 20-foot ceilings on the top floor—offers superlative views of Grant Park, Lake Michigan, and the Chicago skyline.
Make time for tapas and mod Catalan dishes such as black-rice paella from James Beard Award–winning Iron Chef Jose Garces, who helms the on-site restaurant.
