North Avenue Beach House

An aerial view of Chicago's most popular strand, the North Avenue Beach, might lead one to conclude that a massive ocean liner washed ashore in mint condition. In actuality, the faux ship is the $7-million dollar North Avenue Beach House, a multipurpose facility that caters primarily to beachcombers. Its upper decks offer views of the Chicago skyline to the west and Lake Michigan to the east. Rentals are available for leisure-time activities of many stripes, from volleyballs to bikes and chairs. There are also onsite concession stands selling snack food.
